A recent report by Tata Group-owned retail chain Croma reveals that Indian iPhone buyers are pragmatic, loyal, and value-conscious. The study, which analyzed sales from September 2024 to August 2025, shows that non-Pro iPhones dominate the market, accounting for 86% of total sales, while Pro models made up only 14%.
Preference for Smaller-Sized Phones
Smaller-sized iPhones, such as the iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16e, were preferred by 87% of buyers, whereas larger models like the iPhone 16 Plus and 16 Pro Max only contributed 12.5% of sales. This indicates a clear preference for compact devices without compromising the Apple ecosystem experience.
Storage Choices – 128GB Leads
When it comes to storage, the 128GB variant is the top choice, representing 75% of sales, followed by 256GB at 24.4%. Premium storage options like 512GB and 1TB were chosen by less than 1% of buyers, highlighting Indian consumers’ practical approach.
Popular Color Preferences
Color preferences also reflect simplicity and versatility: Black was picked by 26.2%, Blue by 23.8%, and White by 20.2% of buyers.
Strong Upgrade Culture
The report also shows a healthy upgrade culture, with 20.5% of customers exchanging older iPhones for newer ones. Adoption of AppleCare protection was highest among iPhone 16 buyers (20%), followed by iPhone 15 (14%), iPhone 13 (8%), and iPhone 14 (4%).
Conclusion
Overall, Indian buyers prioritize value, practicality, and brand loyalty, choosing compact, non-Pro iPhones with moderate storage while remaining deeply integrated in Apple’s ecosystem.
